Criteria air pollutants are a group of six common air pollutants-i.e., particulate matter (PM), photochemical oxidants (e.g., ozone), carbon monoxide, sulfur oxide, nitrogen oxide, and lead-which can negatively affect public health and welfare, the atmosphere and environment, and surrounding structures. The types of pollutants regulated by the EPA are divided into three groups, which include criteria air pollutants, air toxics, and greenhouse gases. That is why the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) implemented the Clean Air Act (CAA) which imposed regulations on both sources of air pollutants to help mitigate their effect on the atmosphere, the environment, and human life. In high enough concentrations, the pollutants produced by either mobile or stationary sources could cause adverse effects to the atmosphere, the surrounding environment, and human life, such as increasing the average global temperature, decreasing atmospheric visibility, diminishing air quality, and affecting human health. Area sources emit less than 10 tons of a single pollutant or less than 25 tons of a combination of pollutants. Stationary sources are further broken into major and area sources: major sources emit either 10 or more tons of a single air pollutant or 25 or more tons of a combination of air pollutants. Mobile refers to moving sources, such as airplanes, trains, and automobiles, while stationary refers to fixed industrial sources, such as power plants, factories, and other facilities. Air pollutants are generated through both natural-e.g., volcanic eruptions and wildfires-and human-made sources-including mobile and stationary ones. In this day and age, pollution control systems are a must. Tripathi (Advisor to Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai) at Delhi Secretariat, we reached a conclusion that youth and the government need to work together in order to tackle the climate-related problems arising in the national capital," a Fridays For Future (FFF) member told IANS.Common air pollutants produced by industrial processes. "Post our group members' meeting with V.K. Meanwhile, climate activists who had protested before the Delhi Chief Minister's office a week ago, have decided to participate in green programmes and activities initiated by the state government for a bigger impact on the environment front in the long run. Security guards should be provided heaters to prevent burning of biomass, Rai said. Residents can plan their work and reduce the number of vehicle trips accordingly, which will help bring down vehicular pollution. It was suggested that all RWAs promote carpooling. Most of the people said that the 'Red light on Gaadi off' campaign should be continued," he said. "We wanted to collect the feedback from these organisations on our efforts and seek their suggestions. Senior officials from the Delhi Pollution Control Committee and the Environment Department attended it. The minister held a meeting with resident welfare associations, NGOs and eco clubs on pollution control measures being taken by the Delhi government. On Thursday, Delhi Environment Minister Gopal Rai appealed to residents of the city to reduce the number of vehicle trips to help bring down vehicular pollution. This comes at a time when the national capital and adjoining areas are bracing for the air quality to plummet, in the approaching winter. "We are going to make it mandatory for all vehicle manufacturers to make flex-fuel engines (that can run on more than one fuel)," the minister said. Gadkari further said that the government is working to develop an ethanol economy.
AIR POLLUTION AND NOISE POLLUTION CONTROL TECHNOLOGY FREE
We will make Delhi free of air, water and sound pollution in the next three years," he said. "Air pollution, water pollution and noise pollution are major concerns for the country. He also added that the government will make the national capital free of air, water and noise pollution in the next three years, Gadkari said on Thursday. That could soon become a thing of the past, according to Union minister Nitin Gadkari.Īddressing the annual session of industry body PHDCCI, the road transport minister said that pollution is the biggest concern for the country. The toxic air quality in and around Delhi and NCR is notorious and is among the worst, not just in India but globally.
